KOREAN WAR 1950 - 1953

Through 2 Infantry Battalions, 9 naval vessels, 1 fighter Squadron and 1 Air Transport Squadron from 29 June 1950 to 27 July 1953, some 17.164 Australian sailors, soldiers and airmen served in the Korean War. They won world respect for their courage, endurance and combat skills. This was evident in one of the two major battles. Australian troops participated in 1951. On the 22 April, Chinese forces attacked the KAPUYONG valley. UN troops including Australians, halted the attack, recaptured their positions and stalled the Chinese advance.
