Through the Infantry Battalion, from the 31 January to the end of the war 3.998 Belgians participated in the Korean war. The Belgian United Nations Command (BUNC) was put in line near Seoul under the command of the US 3rd Division. >In April 1951 the BUNC fought with distinction along the IMJIN river where it received its first battle honors. The BUNC continued to see much combat action and went on the earn further battle honors at HAKTANG-NI and CHATKOL. The BUNC was reduced to 200 men on December 1954 and the last members left Korea on June 1955.
